Following up to the patch that was released over the Fourth of July weekend, Microsoft has issued a cumulative patch for their web browser. The patch, called "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (KB867801)", fixes three vulnerabilities.
The patch not only repairs current security holes, it also fixes vulnerabilities that have been patched before. This is effective if someone is updating or installing Internet Explorer, because instead of having to go find previous patches, users can now download the newest patch and have IE's security fixes up to date.
These patches will also be available in the upcoming Microsoft XP Server Pack 2. However, the company recommends that users download the cumulative security patch now, instead of waiting until the newest Server Pack is released.
According to InformationWeek.com, the IE patch fixes the vulnerability that allowed the Download.ject attacks to occur. Read more about the patch here.
